Installation
Selecting products that are right for your home is half of the
process: understanding the choices you have for installation of
those products is the other half. A great window can underperform,
or not meet your expectations if not properly installed. The information
contained is intended to familiarize you with the processes, and
should be used only for that. Installation methods, choices, and
challenges are local and regional in nature, and your home may
require elements not show here. Click

abbreviated guide to installing windows.
The requirements for installers vary from state to state. Some
states have specific licensing programs for the installation of
glass, while others require a general contractor's license to
install windows and doors. The best bet is to check with the local
city building department to find out what is required to install
windows and doors in your area.
Additionally, inquire about the need for permits. Some cities
and towns do not generally require review or permitting of retrofit
window installations, but will require a permit if a wall is to
be modified to accomodate the installation of a door where a window
currently exists or vice versa.
