Vinyl

A frame material developed in post-war Europe, Vinyl frame windows have grown in popularity over the last 15 years as a result of their relatively low cost (compared to wood), insulation value, appearance, and low maintanence. Vinyl is made of natural
gas and salt (a simplified formula), and gets it's durability and strength from additives like Titanium dioxide (which blocks UV rays).
Vinyl windows get their strength and durability from the design of the individual profiles that make up the window, and the quality of the compounds that go into the vinyl mix. Ask for information about designs and compounds when learning about your windows.

Vinyl Window Advantages

  • Good price-value relationship
  • Excellent insulation qualities
  • Solid color frame hides minor scratches
  • Many glass & grid options

Disadvantages

  • Frame cannot be painted once installed
  • "Plastic" appearance not appealing to some
  • Frame flexibility reduces maximum size available

Best applications:

  • Projects where cost control is important
  • Projects where balancing insulation & esthetics is important
